Well , my man cave is over flowing out into the yard. I do have a small cement pad that could hold more cool stuff other than an Edsel front clip. I have a couple of nice signs, lots of license plates an old fridge, but I don't have a gas pump. I saw this ad today and it reminded me about this place. We have swapped some old truck parts before and I had a chance to check out his collection. Now he is thinning the herd and sharing his treasures with others. gotta check it out. Memorabilia and gas pumps
Every once in a while something catches my eye that doesn't fit the regular bunch of stuff I usually notice. I guess this turns into another late night television reference although not as well known. Every one knows Burt Reynolds but he made a lot of movies that aren't as famous . In WW and the Dixie Dance Kings he co stars with a car.
This 1957 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight reminded me of the movie car and I had to look it up to check on the year: close but not the same. City people often say I live in the middle of nowhere. I like living in a slightly rural location but I don't know how life would be if the CARQUEST store was more than 10 minutes away.
I once shipped some parts to Temiskaming and checked to see where the nearest store was to them and it was an hour and a half away. To me that is in the middle of nowhere. This 1950 chevy panel is a great deal if it is less than a 2 hour drive to go get it but two hours past North Bay - is it worth the drive? My wife has worked very hard to convert me from an accumulator to a collector.
An accumulator gathers stuff - general stuff not specific stuff. A collector collects stuff with at least a theme or common thread. This would seem like a positive transition but it has its' drawbacks. It is harder to break up a "set" or Pair or a car that fits your " life list". When I had accumulated things it was much easier to get rid of some that didn't "fit". Anyway we stopped to look at a truck last week and the guy had a forward controls JEEP stake truck. This truck fit his collection perfectly but it made me go looking for one as well. 1960 Willys No I am not going to write about tennis today although it would be suitable. Today I met a gentleman who owns a very nice 56 Chevrolet. His brothers own 55 , 57 and 58 Chevrolets and when they go to family outings together they draw a lot of attention.
Well this gets me thinking about finishing sets of cars and seeing that we have had a 55 Bel Air, a 56 150 we really need to find a 57 210. Now we wouldn't have them all at once, we still would have owned one of each at some time. This one even has the double bonus of the swap or trade clause. 1957 Chevrolet 2 door sedan Sometimes where a car is is more important than what it is or how much it is. When I am on the road I try to check out cars that are near by or on the way. This car isn't one of the
7 wonders of the world but still makes my " would be cool " list. 67 Chevelle Usually I like to buy a project assuming or knowing that I will have to do everything - that way there are only good surprises. Sometimes a project that big takes too long and begins to seem overwhelming. The temptation is to pick up a deal on something that is almost road ready. We have done it before with great results and great frustration. We don't need another project right now but I would love a different ride. This one looks promising: 1953 Buick Riviera
if life is a series of compromises, he who is most content with his compromises is happiest.
but sometimes we get a mulligan or a redo or a second chance. what would we do different? We built our 69 suburban quite a while ago and it was a series of compromises that we think worked out pretty well for what we wanted vs what we needed. but what if we could start over or better yet , what if we could have 2? 1972 Chevrolet suburban |
