Company History 10+ Years of DCC
Although we have been wrenching on cars for more than 30 years; Dave's Custom Cars was established after the closure of our family restaurant in 2005. This means we have been helping our automotive friends build cars for more than 10 years. Wow, time does fly by. Dave has chopped, dropped, shaved and fabricated parts for more than 100 vehicles. He eats, sleeps and breathes cars. His pride and joy is his 1949 Chevrolet Pick Up. All kinds of helpful information is locked up inside his head. He is always willing to share his knowledge with other automotive enthusiasts. One of his biggest struggles is what to work on next.
Andrew is following in his father's footsteps. He has built a 1964 Chevrolet long box. The entire family helped and encouraged him to put his truck on the road and he's enjoyed driving it ever since.
Fall of 2015 Andrew and his buddy Scott experienced a car guys adventure. Scott purchased a 1985 Chev truck from an ad on the internet. The two boys each bought a one way ticket to Calgary to meet up with their friend Matt. In Calgary they rented a car and drove to a little town in Saskatchewan to find the truck. No prior knowledge to the history of the truck except it was the sellers daily driver. Since they were in the heart of the land of rust free hot rods, Andrew searched the classifieds and found a 1938 Chev truck for sale. The journey to find the truck was interesting. These boys were raised using paper maps to navigate their travels, being curious they put the address of the '38 into the GPS in the rental car and the answer said, "Walk to help". After some laughs they continued along the farmers lane, purchased the truck cab, put it in the back of the '85 and continued their journey home to Ontario. With no radio and only one CD they solved many of the worlds problems talking to each other. They returned home with no mechanical failures, the only stop they had was 40 km from home in a small village of Merlin, an OPP decided to check out the sticker on the tailgate of the truck, all their paperwork was in order and they safely arrived home with their new vehicles and a story to share.

Holley has claimed a 1968 Chevy II Nova 2 door as her project. Although still in the early stages and needing quite a bit of body work, she can't wait to see her car on the road. Not afraid to help her Dad in the shop, she's hoping that if he helps weld one side, she will weld the other. Holley takes after her namesake and has always loved going to car shows and seeing all the amazing cars that are on the road. After reading Hot Rod Road by Carl Henry Rathjen, one of her favourite thing is going to the drag strip and watching the cars race down the asphalt, and even joining those racers on the strip itself. She raced the 1967 Chevrolet long box at Grand Bend and now she is hooked.
I have been around cars all my life. My Dad always had something cool to drive. When Dave and I were dating I bought a 1955 Chevy Bel Air 2 door sedan. Together we modified it and drove to a few Classic Chevy conventions, one big one in Orlando Florida. Next I bought a 1956 Sedan Delivery which we did a body off the frame restoration. Fast forward to Nova's and Chev trucks and the rest is history.
Cheers for now,
Michelle
