What's Old March 2024 Let's keep the kids involved. We always dragged our kids to most of the car shows and they hung out and helped in the garage when they were little and now both are still interested in Old Cars and Car Shows in general. What's Old November 2023
For my Birthday I got a book on Route 66 and it took me back to our trip along the famous highway and a stop in Kingman at Mr D's Diner. Route 66 between Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon is definitely worthy of checking out. Even though it wasn't that long ago here are some pictures from that trip. Projects: love them, hate them, can't live without them. We thought we would take a look back at a few of the projects that have come through our shop over the years. 1928 Model A Ford. One of the few Fords to ever make it on the yard. this was our first "old school" Hot Rod with the traditional dropped axle, 4 bars front and rear, 283 , 9" Ford rear. Like many of our projects they get sold before they get finished. Early 50's Studebaker Truck - worked on this one with a friend, Camaro Clip slipped right into the stock frame for a great stance, big block Chevy engine, NOS fenders. Unfortunately it was lost in a garage fire - not mine - before it was finished. Holley , more than 20 years ago in front of a 55 Nomad I found at Waterdown swap meet years ago. You know the little pictures people have taped to the side of their trailer - this was in one of those and was destined to be a " monster truck" going on a 4x4 chassis when I "saved" it. We had it a little while and ended up trading it for our first Nova wagon. I never heard of it again but would interested if anyone knows what happened to it. This is our 2nd 63 Nova which we brought back from Iowa but was originally from Phoenix Arizona. While we never really finished this car we did drive the wheels off it. When we started the business we had 3 totes full of Nova parts and a very small folding table we took to swap meets. Eventually we out grew it and moved up to our 69 Suburban. We have kept contact with this car since we sold it. It has had major upgrades and was the inspiration for the Nova wagon in Netflix's Umbrella Acadamy or so we have been told. Our 69 Suburban came from one of the better suburbs of lower Chicago and going to get it was an adventure for another story - ask Holley. -It took me a couple of years to get it "done" and on the road but it served us well for many years before we replaced it with the 83 Suburban. It was built to tow a race car by the previous owner and it pulled strong and was a joy to drive. 1957 Suburban #2 - we had one previously that I got talked out of. this one came from Texas a long time ago and will hopefully be our swap meet truck someday - unless some one talks me out of this one too. 1956 Pontiac Safari 2 door hardtop wagon - like the Nomad but Pontiac. We actually bought this one to resell but the longer it hangs around the more I dream of building it. It would be a really cool delivery vehicle , great cruiser or I have even planned it as a gasser. It is for sale or interesting trade. Projects - past and present - just a taste. thanks, DaveHaving just hosted this year's Cars and Coffee at the Sunparlor Home I went back 5 years or so and pulled up some pictures from way back then. We thank all the participants who come make the day of the residents.
What's Old July 2023 Flashback 20 years or so to Seacliff Park for one of the great car shows that used to be held there. Nice Model A 1969 Chevelle Ragtop Mustang Ragtop
WHAT'S OLD JUNE 2023 Flashback 5 years and see all the changes. The shop had more room somehow back then - the lawnmower was new and got to sleep inside. The greenhouse was mostly still there with cars "inside". We still had the Monte Carlo SS - seen here at the Sun Parlour Home Show - look for updates on the Sun Parlour Show - in the near future- What's Old April 2023 An old project of mine turned up recently. Here is what it looked like when I owned it. I never did finish it. Super rare 1947 Pontiac Sedan Delivery. The body was tough but I learned how to weld fixing the rear fender area. The fenders were nice but I had to buy a parts car to get a hood. I will have to find the pictures of the parts car and share them and the story another time.
WHAT'S OLD FEBRUARY 2023 With the weather we have been having lately I thought I would try to find some old cars in snow pictures and I was surprised I had a couple but I had to leave us on an up note with summertime pictures as well. Here is a 57 Chevrolet Suburban we previously owned not buried but in deep snow. Here is the Wildcat before we brought it home in 1995. The roads were clear before we drove it. When the BEACH BOYS came to Leamington we went all out with a car show . Dennis Jackson's "Heinz" truck , and some of the ladies from the registration tent. Hot weather and cool white GMC truck in Columbus with Holley showing off her ribbon for the colouring contest.
