So I come home the other day and my neighbor has a 73-87 Chevy Short stepside pickup project sitting there. Andrew and I looked at a few trucks of this era this past winter but never found the right one. I don't know if this is the right one but it looks pretty sweet.
1984 Chevy I have always wanted to build a traditional rod with some newer updates. I have even gone so far as to gather up a quad 4, independent rear end out of a T bird or Cougar or MarkVIII, etc. Of course someone came along and bought all those parts I gathered for their own projects but... Anyway, my son Andrew has a nice 28 Model A body and frame and is gathering up his own collection of parts the way he wants to build it, but I still have the yearning to do one myself. Maybe a Buick Nailhead, finned aluminum front drums, chop the top 3" or 4" -[ I am shorter than my son - we have his marked out for a 2" chop so he can wear his hat in the car]and so on.
Anyway here is a good start - I wish it was closer : 1930 model A Back when I was in my impressionable years my uncle had a 73 Electra 225 and I have never forgotten about it. I have always had a thing for big block Buicks and in a sweet ride like the 225 cruising would be awesome. 1971 Buick Electra 225
So I get another call from a friend of mine wondering if I had found anything from out west to have delivered by his long time family friend coming empty to pick up a car. I don't know about you but that is a hard offer to pass up. So we shake the bushes and come up with this 1949 Anglia. You all know that Henry J s are my preferred gasser platform but when was the last time you saw one for sale - reasonable. anyway stay tuned maybe there will be a 1949 Anglia on my "New to the yard" page.
Back in high school I drove a 1968 Buick Wildcat. It was one of my favourite cars and still is. The big block engine pulled hard and with a few tweaks in carburation and exhaust we had it capable of embarrassing many "performance" cars in spite of its size and weight. I still have the engine and transmission out of it as well as the console. Although I like the slopeback styling of the fastback hardtop better than the convertible top of this pick, the ragtop looks great with the top down. 1967 Wildcat
We had a great time in Paris yesterday and the vast variety of cars and trucks on display are sure to get your creative juices flowing.
