Sometimes a car will follow you around and " haunt" you. It has happened to me before. You go to look at a car, it isn't the right time or price then, a while later it shows up somewhere else, still doesn't work for you, you go to look at something else and there it is and you brought cash a trailer so it comes home with you. Well once upon a time I owned a 57 Suburban, played with it a bit, thought about it a lot but when someone made me a good offer I let it go. And now here it is again, begging to come be my suburban replacement...
1957 Chevrolet Suburban Parts car, donor car, great deal. The front suspension subframe unbolts from these vettes and is about the right width for 55-59 chevy pickup swaps or late 30's GM rods. The rear ends are way better than the older ones and I understand the manual transmission cars have the better of the better. The engine is valuable as is the transmission and the seats are fairly narrow and will swap over pretty easy too if you like the more modern look. And if you are lucky you can sell some of the body parts to get back some of your initial investment. I am sold. 1984 Corvette.
Why is it that all of the best deals are so far away? I love northern Ontario. I have written previously about posing for pictures in front of the Big Nickel. We haven't got there - yet, here is another chance. This looks like a great start for another Father Style - Son Style Traditional rod. Today I am thinking 3.8 Buick v6 - supercharged , 5 speed, independent suspension all the way around, full hood to hide the engine...tinted glass, indigo blue suede covering the body...
1928 Model A long roofs are cool but does that mean that really long roofs are really cool? This one is going to take some thought - lowered for sure - chop the top? how many rolls of wire would it take? looks like a super solid body to start with. I am sure this one will "haunt " me until I at least figure out how I would build it . Chevy Panel
Well if I can wish for a hardtop, sedan, fastback and convertible Chevrolet in the 49 -52 era, why not the same collection of Buicks. I have the sedanette, 4 door, now I need the convertible , sedan and hardtop. Actually we can cross off the sedan as we had one a few years ago.
So here we have a very nice convertible : 1947 Buick Convertible So back a while I wrote about an Anglia and that got me to thinking about gassers and Henry J s and other Kaiser Frazer cars and then I stumble across this 1951 Silver Dragon that lot drives and too bad this is a very busy week or we would be loading up and going
to Peru - that is near Brazil isn't it. So what does the Los Angeles Kings winning the Stanley Cup have to do with old cars? Well, many of us should have more time in the garage and The Maple Leafs are on equal ground with all the other teams for next year. Speaking of Maple Leafs, I have sort of been looking for one of these rare GMC - Chevrolet special built trucks for a while. Early ones are more unique than the later ones and 37 Chev trucks have been on my list for 20 some years. 1937 Maple Leaf
One of our customers stopped over the other day driving his conversion van. We have had a couple in the past and found them very useful so the conversation goes - what about an old van - like a Scooby do van. Well I think they are kinda neat and could definitely be handy. 1968 GMC van
Do you have a life list of cars you want to own? Ya, me neither, but if I did a 49 -52 Chevrolet would be on it probably 3 times: a coupe, a sedan and a fastback, maybe a hardtop or ragtop too. I have travelled to look at several but have never found the right one at the right time. This one has the makings of a really cool ride. 1950 Chevy
Yesterday, the Wheatley Journal arrived and I was in the news - good news - Bill Sherk, syndicated author of Old Car Detective had done a story on our 64 Impala Ragtop. Well this gets me thinking about how I met Bill and how his column came to be and then I find a car that reminds me of the "Sherk Merc" . 1939 Merc Convertble.
