The auto pact of years ago forced the auto industry to build some creative vehicles.  Beaumonts, Acadians, Frontenacs, Meteors, and today's pick: Maple Leaf .   1937 Chev 1/2 ton  with 36 Maple Leaf grille shell. 

 I don't think I would follow the current builders idea of the Colorado 4x4 frame -

 I would go low- maybe source a stock frame - I have had them before- or maybe gasser syle with a straight axle.

292 6 cylinder or built up small block ... It would make a cool ride and definitely not very common.
