Years ago we flew into Cedar Key Florida and were greeted by an old Checker offering a ride from the airport to the downtown area. It wasn't metered but they took tips. The rumour was if you didn't give them something they wouldn't take you back to the airport.
Anyway the Checker cab was cool and left an impression on me. I love the classic styling and the indestructible construction . Some years they came with International Truck engines and later small block Chev engines. Picture it with 22's, LS engine 4l80e trans, dark tinted glass, grey so dark it is almost black...1967 Checker Marathon I have said before I would not build a pre 37 GM because there was too much structural wood in them. this one has me pricing out
band saws so I can do the wood myself and finish this sweet little 1931 Chevrolet pickup project. The builder has made choices that are pretty much in line with what I would do so there isn't much wasted money - the wheels would probably sell at a swap meet and the transmission would work great in my suburban and I have a T5. I sure wish people would put more, quality pictures in their ads.
I sure would love to build a 51 Chevy fastback. I sure don't want to drive all the way to Guelph and be disappointed in the condition of a car. I am sure I could email and he would send me more pictures but that doesn't help me share them with you tonight. 1973 Nova Hatchback
This looks like a great start to a nice driver when it is all done. Nova parts are easy to find and they are easy to work on. The Hatch back makes the car work like a wagon but still look like a sedan. Today's pick is a little higher priced than I usually look at but last time I checked they were selling for big bucks finished. It is also a rare, beautifully styled car that I would love to add to my collection.
1934 Buick Vicky 3.8 v6 supercharged, auto overdrive, pw, a/c, all the creature comforts and this would make a fantastic cruiser. 1937 Chevy pick up - not the platform I would use but still has potential. I love the style of these old trucks and will build either a truck or a coupe someday.
