I hope I don't offend all the lovers of the 74-76 Buick Rivieras but in my opinion they were the ugliest Rivieras built. The hood , doors and interior were the same as the le sabre which was actually better looking. With all that being said I am still considering running up the 401 and scooping up this 1976 Buick Riviera. It has a low performance version 455, th 400, and Buick road wheels. Also I have written about completing sets and I haven't had a 74-76 yet. we have had a 63 - loved it, 66 parts car with nailhead and factory aluminum valve covers - parted it out, 68 - back when I was young and foolish and tried to make a bump and run car for Checker Flag raceway, 72 - still have it, 77- loved it even though it used oil like crazy. We even parted a front drive T-Type from the 79- 86 era- should have kept that carbureted turbo engine, the next era was forgettable but not ugly and the last - for now shared the Aurora platform and we had one of those so that almost counts. we have been kicking around the idea of building a 49-54 Chevy for about a year and a half now. I have shared few of them with you. Tonight I came across probably the nicest one I have since I missed out on a coupe in Aylmer by a missed phone call. Now this one looks to be a great deal today but it is on ebay so who knows where the price will end up. This one has all the right parts done, the work looks correct and I even love the wheels. 1953 Chevrolet 2 door
I got a call to go and do a parts estimate for a 1969 GTO rag yesterday so today I started learning about GTOs. Well it turns out the more I learn, the more I like and now I want one. Being one of those guys who wants to do everything or at least cause everything to be done, this one is perfect for me and the price is within range too.
1970 GTO My searches usually focus on Chevies , GMC and Buicks. I have had the occasional model A or several orphan brands. Tonight I came across a 1940 Ford pick up . I have always thought the styling of 1940 Fords was near perfect and would love to build this one as a traditional 60's style rod. 283 or 327, powerglide, 9 inch ford rear, dropped front axle... Straighten out the body, nice coat of dark blue or grey, steel wheels with dog dishes and trim rings...
I can picture it now. |
