finished up a few more things - had to source the right fasteners. 
then we started on the brake lines- prebent stainless from the Right Stuff.
Gas line, and e brake parts, still need a few more stainless fasteners and pull the unions and Tees off the old lines but it is still progress considering we have only had the frame back for a week. 

We learned today that 69 and 71 rear flex hoses are different - have to order the correct one so we can finish the rear lines.

We had sourced a 71-72 5 bolt rear end previously and had it gone through - new bearings and seals and brakes. We installed new bushings in the trailing arms and started bolting everything up. 
We added a good used power steering box on the front along with new Monroe shocks all around.

We picked up the frame from the powder coater last Friday.
County Coatings in Merlin did a fine job.
We installed a couple of parts on the bottom before we flipped it over.
The small parts we blasted and painted ourselves.

After we flipped it over we began installing the front suspension

The front suspension is a 5 bolt set up from a 71-72 we had sourced earlier and rebuilt with quality parts and painted with POR15.

We try to have something going on in the "Dirty Side " of the shop.
Lately we are frame off a 69 GMC we brought from Manitoba last summer.

some pictures of the box - sheet metal is great, we peeled out what wood was left- rotten factory boards with pressboard screwed to it. cross rails were rustier than we hoped and will be replaced.

we didn't get any pictures of taking the box off because our hands were full. 
to remove the cab we used the gantry crane and then set the cab on the handy cart made from a donor 72 gmc several years ago -body mount are in the right spot to replace and support the sheet metal as we repair the rust - it rolls too.

the frame is in excellent shape
​we removed the engine [307] and transmission and degreased the transmission crossmember

we will keep most of the engine together for the belt driven and exhaust manifolds and brackets until we swap them onto the new engine. we split the transmission off and sent it out to be checked over

we unbolted every part we could to prep for sandblast and powdercoat of the frame and sandblast and paint of the other parts - the seat cover has been ordered for the seat

now we have the box on one cart and the cab on another, you can see the fenders on the front of the cab cart waiting for minor repair

after sandblasting in the cold we painted most of the parts so they are ready to go back on when the frame gets back from powdercoat
